During the Great Depression, Joe Rantz and eight other working-class young men earn places on the University of Washington rowing team. Their remarkable journey takes them from difficult lives in America to the 1936 Olympic Games in Nazi Germany. Against overwhelming odds, they learn to trust one another and compete for Olympic gold in front of Hitler and the world.
